Buggies and Travel Systems

Postby CheekyChick » Mon Sep 20, 2010 2:47 pm

Hi guys, just throwing this up here. A lot of us first time mums would love advice on what you found best for your babies. Easy to fold? Lightweight? etc.......

I love the idea of the travel systems cause I love the pram top but also to be able to use the car seat and the buggie when suits would be fantastic.

The pram tops are lovely, very cosy for baby and reassuring for mum and dad as you can see your baby all the time. The main things that stood out for us when buying a buggy was, 1) if it was lightweight and easy to push around, 2) if it had adjustable handles so it could be adjusted to a height that is comfortable for me or DH, 3) if it folds easily and is small when folded. Also things like a raincover, storge pockets in the back and a little shopping basket underneath are a must for convenience sake!
We chose not to go with a removable pram top as they are so expensive, instead we've bought a regular stroller that can have the carseat attatched to the top, so we can have baby facing us in the carseat for the first few months and then when baby is able to hold his head up properly he can use the forward facing stroller on it's own. :D

We ordered the Quinny last week. Its fab and fits easily into the boot of the car. It has the pram, carseat, iso fix base, 2 buggy inserts (change as the child grows), shopping basket and raincover. We are all set to go

I love prams and buggys, i wont say how many ive had but its more than 50 less than 100
Travel systems are find as long as bubs isnt in car seat too long, as it can place strain on babies developing spine.
Main thing for me is comfort for baby, i drive everywhere so dont need to worry about using it on buses etc.
All going well when DC3 comes along i will get a proper pram that also takes the maxi cosi car seat and a will get a M&P pramette for the boot, will change when DC3 gets a bit bigger as some prams get heavy and akward to handle with a bugger toddler.

Sunshine i sell one to buy another, that way it doesnt usually cost me a lot to change and i still get to try out something else, usually buy 2nd hand aswell.
TBH you will pron end up buying a stroller/lighter buggy for the car when bubs gets bigger.
I always had one walking buggy that stayed in my hall and then something smaller for the boot.
So proper pram and a pramette when small babies and when they are about 18mths/2yrs i would always have a 3 wheeler or similar for walking and a stroller for the boot. That way you dont up having to fold up and lift a big heavy pram/buggy in and out of the boot all the time.
Some buggys have small seat units so are crap for bigger toddlers.
