My favourites would be clothes or money. If you already have a lot of clothes in a certain size, you can ask people to get gifts in a bigger size for you if they ask you what you would like. Money is great because it can go on anything you need, our sterilliser broke when DD was only a few days old but that evening our neighbour gave us 100euro in a card as a gift, little did he know just how desperate we were for the extra cash at that time!
Tbh, any gifts are great! I can't think of one thing we were given when DD was born that wasn't needed! A couple of people even came around to the house with big jumbo packs of Pampers, doesn't seem like much of a gift but we were delighted!

I think nappies and baby food are a great gift to get or give someone. Oh and wipes too

I swear to god missus, i'm dying for one of them nappy cakes! Baby food would be a great addition. Did you think of maybe doing different themed nappy cakes? Like a bath-time one with towels and toiletries and sponges and rubber duckies, then maybe a weaning cake with spoons, food, bowls and plenty of bibs! You only ever seem to see the basic ones with vests and booties and things, they're brilliant but having different types might be a little money maker hun! ;)

When my firends had babies I would do up a little hamper. You can pick up the baskets anywhere and then I would fill it with all kinds of things like, bibs, creams, washes, nappies, dummies, booties, bath sponges etc. I think that is the kind of gift I would like too.

I know everyone always buys for Baby, but what about something for mum and dad. Before my sister had her baby, we (my older sister and I) made up a small hamper of necessities and nice things for mum, and a few small things for baby. Stuff like shower gel, body lotion, lip balm, face cream which she didn't even think she would need during her hospital stay were greatly appreciated. We also threw in baby nail clippers, some all in one suits for baby, first hair brush and comb for baby. And they are all so reasonably priced.

I think there are a lot of gifts a mother would really love to receive :) I always love it when people start being creative creating something that comes from the hard - like a gift basket with a variety of things a young mother needs. In this hamper one can put a lot of things from baby powder to baby shower to diapers and so one. A dear friend of mine sent me a hampers uk because she couldn't be with me when my first baby was born and it was so beautiful... it simply made me cry because she put her whole heart in it and even included her most favorite piece of clothing from her first child :) that was such a beautiful moment.
