Breast or Bottle

How have you feed or how will feed your baby.

I bottle feed my son but I think next time I'd like to try breast feeding.

I'm going bottle MammyT. As a ftm i just don't feel confident in myself to be a capable feeder, plus it's something that i am just not comfortable with for myself personally. My mum bottle fed all of us and all my friends have bottle fed so i could make a bottle up in my sleep, its just something i prefer.
In saying that, i have total admiration for the women who do breast feed!

Breast feeding in public would make me feel uncomfortable cos I'm not a confident person.
My cousin got a pump to express her milk and it was handy for her but she used formula aswell.
My aunt breastfeed my cousins and they were constantly stuck to her boob that out me off cos you wouldn't have much freedom as when bottle feeding.

I'm the same guys, bottle all the way. I have utter admiration for women who choose to bf, because I just don't have the confidence to do it infront of people. My mum bottle fed all of us and my friends all bottle fed too, so I guess it's just down to what you feel more capable of, and what you're comfortable with.
Also I've heard too many stories from mums who have been bf'ing every hour or 2 because baby isn't getting enough milk or latching on properly, or simply just get too used to doing it for comfort. I just couldn't face giving up my freedom like that, never mind how emotionally and physically drained I would feel.

Thats what puts me off the fact the baby could be stuck on your for so long and you won't know how much they have taken

Yeah, at least with a bottle we can see how much they've taken and if it was more or less than usual. It must be so hard, learning how to judge these things when you bf. Not to mention the cracked nipples! OUCH!

I'm going to give breast feeding a go. I've been thinking about it a lot and have looked into it. Even if I do it for the first 2 weeks I'll be happy enough then to switch to bottle.

Good for you hun. They reckon the baby gets the real health benefits from it in the first couple of weeks anyway! Please don't let me put anyone off with my views on it, because we all know doctor's advice is 'breast is best'. I think everyone should give it a go if they want to, because there are a lot of upsides to it, but I also think it is a personal choice and people shouldn't feel pressured into either bf or ff. From my experience there is a lot of pressure from mw's to get women to bf, but there's a lot of peer pressure from friends etc to get you to ff, so it's something everybody has to sit back and decide for themselves.

I want to bottle feed. But I am already running into a lot of opinions from people who do not agree. I just have to stick to my guns and do what I feel is right for me and my baby. I know breastfeeding is the best option, but the formula nowadays is very good as well, so I am not too worried. I was bottle fed as well and I turned out right. So, do what you feel you want to do girls, don't let anyone push their opinions on you!

When a midwife asked me one day was I bottle feeding or breast feeding I said bottle well it was like I was doing the worst thing in the world. Bloem don't let people put you off your decision especially the older midwives
