How do you know which formula is the best one?? We were brought up on SMA but other mums are telling me no the best one is this or that.

Us first time mums will be learning as we go so how do we know which one to start baby on??

It will depend very much on your baby and their digestive system. Most babies are started on SMA Gold but some may be lactose intolerant so will need SMA LF others might be bigger feeders so will need a different formula. If you google SMA you will find their website and they have a breakdown of all their formulas and the babies that they suit. Its very informative, i was looking at it last night and thought it was very good!

I started DD on SMA Gold and will prob do the same this time, we already have a tin of it in the cupboard! It's a case of trial and error I think, because you don't know how your baby will react to a certain formula until you've tried it. Most hospitals provide the little glass bottles of ready made formula with the sterile teats, so your decision may well be determined by whatever formula is available when lo is born!

I didn't know which one to use never even thought about it until I was in the labour ward and the md asked what was I using and I said I don't know which was the best and she said they're all the same.
I feed ds sma gold moving onto sma white, I had no problems with it an I'd use it again

yep ive had 4 kids girls and im tellin ya there is no difference in them except the ones made of soy and lactose free and that. but standard baby formula is all the same just different names is all.

Hi,
With my girls i put them on the aptimil feed and have had no problems at all thank god.

DS1 was on Aptamil and was fine on it, DS2 started off on Cow and Gate but it didnt agree with him so changed him onto Cow and Gate Comfort with Dr Browns bottles and he was like a different baby, settled great on it.
I dont know if all hospitals are the same but when i had the boys i was asked about what formula i wanted to feed them when i was in the height of labour tbh with ye the last thing on my mind was formula i just wanted babs out

i had my three girls on sma and found it fine i suppose there all the same
