laniey the only advice i would say is wake him during the day for feeds, he will learn the differance between night and day then. i know they say dont wake the baby but i started doing this a few weeks ago with little man and giving him feed every 4 hours and went to waking twice a night to once and last night he even cut that out.

as for the stop worrying part, sorry hun just think thats the "joys" of being a mom.

If you can let baby fall asleep in it's cot/Moses basket rather than waitin till baby falls asleep in arms! It's gets them used to falling asleep on there own instead of relying on mammy to get them asleep!

My 7 yr old didn't sleep a full night till she was 4 and a half years old!! It was madness, I was a walking zombie! So on this lo I'm def going to do everything so different! My sis got her son into the habit of settling his self from really early and he started sleeping all night from 7 weeks old and he still does! So I'm praying I can get my lo to do the same!

so is your son after cutting out night feeds already? fingers crossed our little dude will cut out

we do this during day........ we wake him for feeds every 4 hours.......... then he gets active at night!! I hadn't a proper sleep in 12 days up to last night and add hormones to that so was all over the place... my oh let me sleep last night and he slept downstairs with little man so I got about 9 hours and feel fab. Hoping when blues pass, it will be easier!

My tip is explain the baby blues to your partner prior to them happening, then there isn't stupid comments from himself like" I can't deal with 2 crying people in the house".

well i moved him to the hunger food too cas i was having an awful few days with him (couldnt put him down for two sec without him screaming the house down, and there was a few times i would join him in crying too!!) and i knew he was still hungery but since we moved him over we are getting about 6 hours from him, hubby would do the last feed at about 12 and i do the early one at 6, i would head to bead about 10 so i would get about 8 hours sleep and hubby would get a ly-in in the morning then.....we'll prob swtich that during the week so hubby can get a good night sleep for work.

could you try and keep him awake after the feeds??? give him a bath before bed too cas this really helps my little man sleep.

hopefully the blues will pass soon but lack of sleep def wont help with them. :hug and i really hope your OH didnt say that cas i think i would have floored hubby if he said that to me.

babyl little man is normally good for going down himself but when he wouldnt settle before we switched him there was nights where he slept on my chest and hubby chest and we would take it turns. and since we switched him his been great again, settles down again no problem.

Tesco nappies are cheaper and in my opinion have better soakage than other brands. Just to save ye a bit of money. They are in yellow packet.

Get into a routine as early as possible. There is no harm is leaving baby to cry for a couple of mins if yu are busy because in my experience if baby gets used to being picked up every time s/he makes a sound you will never get a thing done. Also make time for yourself, just because your a mum doesn't mean you need to be with baby 24/7. Get out of the house with baby as much as possible for a walk even if it is around the shops. Oh and aldi nappies are great and so are the boots own brand sensitive wipes.

Oh another thing is keep feeding baby room temp bottles when home from hospital that it makes night feeds quicker and when out and about no need to be looking for somewhere to heat it. Don't talk to baby when doing night feeds as it gets them alert and makes it harder for them to know difference between day and night iykwim.
Oh and there is no such thing as the perfect mammy and baby books don't tell you want having a baby is really like. Enjoy the newborn stage as it goes so quickly, unless like my dd who at 9wks is still dinky and in newborn clothes mainly and some 0-3mths lol

When I had ds2 i was told by mw and phn to give room temp bottles they are always changing recommendations. They never made him sick and I do same for dd and again she's never been sick. I put 6oz of water is the bottles and leave them till she needs a feed then ad the formula so much handier. Ds1 used to have warm bottles and it was a pita when out and about or during the night.
