Looking for some advice here how many hours should baby sleep a day? as out of 24 hours I was told baby sleeps 22 but I dont think it sounds right!

Well my daughter wasn't sleeping half that when new born lol! She used to sleep for a hour after her bottle and then stay awake for a few hours before her next bottle during the day and then slept a extra few hours between bottles at night! I know they say that sleeping 20hours out of 24 is the norm for new borns but hunni I've never heard of any of my nieces nephews or friends baby's doing this!

Id say each baby is different.. My little man sleeps for an hour or so after each feed.. Sometimes he'l sleep for 3 hours straight. He sleeps more than he is awake, Id say maybe around 16 our of the 24 hours..

well babyL I'm worried my baby is sleeping too much!!!! Stays awake for a feed and then sleeps sleeps sleeps!!!! Cries in between of course

My friends Baby was just like that. He just woke for feeds and then slept all the time. I didnt even see him awake for the first few weeks. Dont worry better to get lots of sleep then none. The baby is proparly Full up and happy out so has a long snooze in between.

Every baby is different, most of my college books said anywhere between 16-20 hours. I'm not sure how true that is in reality....

i agree with newmrs, every baby has their own little ways of worrying mammy and daddy :lol:

but he sounds like a happy healthy baby, wait til hes wakin up every hour on the hour little my little cousin&godchild is his poor mammy n daddy r wrecked!dont worry hun try n get some rest urself while his asleep x
