Plug or show? Whats the difference?

Postby babymakes3 » Fri Feb 10, 2012 3:39 pm

Ok, so after having contractions all night that were getting worse they eventually eased off this morning and I got some sleep. Put it down to particularly bad BH. Still have back ache and an ache going down both hips but not painful, just uncomfy and achy. So I checked my pad this morning and had the same kinda brownish discharge I've been having for about a week, I was thinking it might be the start of my plug going but never mentioned it to anyone and kinda just forgot about it. Then this afternoon I went to the loo, was feeling a bit wet (sorry tmi  ) and noticed little pinkish/reddish marks on my pad and when I wiped there was a big blob of white discharge with pieces of the pinkish colour in it. It was quite big and looked like (sorry now!) snot! My question is, do you think that this was some of my plug coming away or could it considered a bloody show?
The books say there's no real difference between a show and the loss of your plug and neither mean labour is imminent but its good to know that things are moving in the right direction :)

Sounds like you are losing your plug petal :) :) :) White & pinkish snot like mucus is what they say to look out for when your plug is going!!
Eeeeekkkkkk!!!!

I hope so too hun! The contractions are really weird, like for a few hours I'll have loads of them and they get stronger and stronger and stronger....and then all of a sudden just go away! Knowing my luck I'll probably be like this for the next 2 weeks and go over due by another 2 weeks and end up being induced  It's weird waiting on things to kick off isn't it!

 Sure what've I told ya - yer an honourary auntie ;) Hope it starts up again cause it seems to have eased off completely. No more show and the contractions are very few and far between! Still have that pain in my back though so I'm heading for a bath as soon as the water heats up! Hope that'll help with the achy, heavy feeling!

Thanks girls! Nothing else happening besides the back pain though! I think I'm all anxious and waiting for things to kick off since seeing the show yest! Wantone the WTE book says it can take anything from 48 hours to a week or in some cases longer for anything to happen! I'm just really making a point of enjoying each and every one of bubs movements at this stage! All too soon they'll be here and I'll never feel it again!
As for baths my bump is always over the water, the tub doesnt fill high enough to cover it
