Ok, so I told my best friend my baby names. In confidence. Hadn't told another soul except my own sister cause I wanted things to be a surprise. Found out today that my bestie, who is also pregnant, has announced her baby names to people (except me of course!) and guess what her boy's name is! I'll give you one guess!! Yup - same name we had picked for our boy's name!! Except now if we use it everyone will think WE stole it off HER and not the other way around! I'm like an anti-Christ here over it!
Luckily enough we have another name that we're equally happy with and were kinda starting to lean towards that anyway (again the only person who knows is my sister and I don't plan on telling anyone else after this debacle!) but I'm actually disgusted in her behaviour! I felt safe telling my BEST friend our names, where I wasn't even telling my own mother and this is what happens!! I don't ever want to bloody speak to her again! With friends like her who needs enemies!!

Can be very hurtful. Maybe you should confront your friend about the name and let her know how upset you are. She pro wont change her mind about name but it will make you feel better and then you both can move on hopefully. Would make you so mad though.

Oh totally! Like as far as she's aware that name is the only name we have for a boy. I just don't understand why she'd do this. I tried to ring her earlier but her phone is off! I won't be letting it go, why would you purposely do something like this! I've also literally just found out from a mutual close friend that my supposed best friend has been feeling her baby move for weeks now even though she's been telling me that she hasn't felt a thing yet and I was comforting her telling her she'd feel it soon enough! I honestly don't understand some people! I'm more confused I think than anything right now!! Like I mean things have been a bit strained between us lately due to a few factors (mainly down to the fact that she wanted to be the one who got pregnant first and it didn't go too well when I was the one who got the BFP first) but I thought we'd settled everything and by telling her the baby names I felt we were really making progress like! I'm baffled!!

god almighty, she must have been badly stuck for a brain cell that she couldn have thought of her own name!!! id be bulling!!! not a very friendly thing to do, obviously you can never confide in her again, and now you gotta give up the name you wanted- totally not fare!!!

I know! I'm bloody raging! She's not due for another couple of months and this is obviously her way of making sure I cant use the name even though I'm due first! Rotten thief!

Oh God my blood would be boiling too!!!! GGGGGRRRRRRR!!! Im so annoyed for you!!! Makes me glad Im having a girl & my friends & neighbours are all having boys...that way no-one can steal my name (even if they knew it!)

I'm raging at myself for even telling her now!! I should have kept it to just my sister knowing and left it at that, but I honestly thought I could trust her not to do something like this - especially as she's due so long after me like!! Rage does not describe how I feel! And so betrayed! There I was thinking we were still great friends and then she pulls a stunt like this. Text her earlier and got a msg back saying that she didn't even remember me telling her my names so how was she expected to know that she'd picked the same name "by accident" It'd be laughable if it wasn't so hurtful!!

What a b--ch! She couldn't remember ya right! And after all this she prob won't even call the child the name! I'd give her no more attention and tell her nothing! You've enough on your plate at the minute than be getting upset over her when she's not worth it!!

Oh I'm not gonna bother my arse with her. And I've decided if I have a boy and he "looks like" the name we'd originally picked then I'm gonna use it and she can be damned! Both of us know what really happened anyway! It really would make you re-evaluate who your friends truly are!!!

Good women feck her! You choose the name first so you have every right to call your baby what ever you want especially if you choose the name before her! I know u have a name picked which the 3 of us want but everyone keeps saying ah sure such a such called her baby that and such a such has that picked! Well feck em it's our baby and we have a right to choose a name we like never mind anybody else!

I know hun, naming baby can be such a touchy subject! It bugs me that people feel like they can ask you what your names are, and yet when you tell them they feel the need to weigh in with their opinion on why the name isn't suitable or how such-and-such a person called their child something similar etc! We have our two names now - unfortunately my bestie knows the girls name we've picked as well so I'm truly hoping she won't "change her mind" on her names and tell people she's now opting for MY girls name. Come on out now baby cause I need to know if yer a boy or a girl so that that my b1tch of a so-called friend can't thieve your name

Verrrrrry true! I can't wait!!!! The anticipation at the end is worse than any morning sickness The constant wondering "When will it happen?" or "Will it happen naturally?" or "How long more!" I'm back on knicker watch - thought I'd left that behind in the first trimester
