Doctor App

Postby RocTheBaby » Fri Jan 13, 2012 2:39 pm

Hey girlies :welcomewave

I had an unrelated doctors app today but I just had a little chat about ttc with her anyway. She's a brill doctor and has always been spot on with everything so I really trust her. :)

I mentioned about my wierd crampy sensations I had on Monday and how I got a bfn this morning so she said it could be one of two things, either implantation bleeding or ovulating. I only came off the pill a while ago so she said its a great sign if its ovulation because it means my body is regulating itself really quickly. However, it still could have been the implantation bleeding so I should test again on day AF is due anyway. :thumbsup

She also told me that I was to stop taking vitamin supplements and the ONLY thing I should be taking is folic acid. Apparently other supplements can actually do more harm than good during ttc! She said stop reading stuff on google  and that when I am pregnant she will advise me on what I should be taking then. You're only supposed to take extra supplements if your doctor actually perscribes it for you for a specific reason. I just think you guys should know this too...or at least check it out with your doc first if you're unsure :?

Ooh just noticed your new ticker hun! My ticker was 15DPO when I got BFP ;) She sounds like a fab doctor!! And she's right - Google is brutal! You always find worst case scenarios on there  I trust my What To Expect books (I have them all!) and leave Google alone ;)

The only thing is, if the cramps on monday were ovulation pains, then my ticker is wrong cuz I thought I had ovulated on the week previous...We'll find out on Wednesday :-)

How long after ov can you get implantation? I'm still so clueless about a lot of this TTC business

How long are you off the pill hun. I know I was a bit messed up for a few months after I came off it but I know everyone is different

I'm been very bad at taking my folic acid lately, I was good for the first while I was TTC but then kept forgetting, must start taking it again

I think implantation occurs approx 9 days after ovulation hun...

I came off my pill straight after the wedding so mid Dec. I know there's very little chance I'll get a bfp this month but apparently you can be super fertile straight off the pill so there is actually a chance you can get pregnant then and we were still in HM mode so were at it like rabbits lol. I was always 100% regular before I went on the pill 8 years ago and also throughout the time I was on the pill. When I had my knee replacements, I was told to come off the pill cuz it increases the chance of blood clots during surgery. My AF got back to normal straight away then so I'm hoping it'll be the same this time.

Leave your folic acid by your bedside mrsEL10 and you'll see it every night and remember to take it. Its very important hun xx

Hey, that's great news! And that's a good tip about the supplements, my mam (a nurse) always told me not to take the supplements so I never did until the doc said I should, as you said. Good advice.

You are so lucky to get your cycle back so quickly, that is a really great start. I would not be one bit surprised if you got your bfp first time around. You are a life-size good luck charm!!
