Another Newbie

Postby maybetwins » Wed Dec 21, 2011 2:12 pm

hi everyone,

firstly :babydust to everyone on here.....

I am completely new to this whole situation. I am getting married in june 2012 and both my fiance and i want to start having kids straight away!! Already feel like we are behind....

I have been on the pill for the last seven years and due to a family bereavement i missed starting my next packet. I forgot about it for five days so have decided to stay off it and get my body ready.

Dont know really where to start and i apologise in advance for any silly questions i may ask!! :doh I am hoping to get pregnant any time from May on!! I still have a dress to fit in and would like to loose some weight before baby so that he/she can have a healthly start to life...

:welcome to the site maybetwins. Hope all the wedding plans are going well Im getting married just after you in September so I know how much of a crazy time it is!! Welcome to the crazy world that is ttc! Haven been on the journey for two years and now taking a break I know the many ups and downs. Dont worry about asking what you think is a stupid question there is no such thing as a stupid question by asking those questions is the only way your going to learn. My advice to you is stock up on the folic acid and get to know your cycles. Best wishes with everything :hug

How are the wedding plans going? TTC is one of those times of your life that is so confusing and frustrating!! I had been on the pill from 2003 until we decided to try for a baby so in or around 6 years I pretty much went back into normal cycles straight away but I know for some girls it has taken a lot longer. Theres no particular type of folic acid that I know of your best bet is to speak to your pharmacist. Im on a higher than average dose as Ive epilepsy. Being nervous is compleatley normal Im still nervous two years later. Hopefully youll be one of the girls that it happens very fast for. One thing I wish I had prepared myself for was how long it could take Ive seen relatives have kids and my Sil is pregnant at the moment which Ive found particuarlly hard. Yeah were trying for our first pg itll happen soon at this stage Im happy to walk up the aisle with a bump  As for anything else to take I know you can get vitamins when you are trying and for when you are pregnant. My advice is speak to your pharmacist I found mine invaluable and if your not comfortable with your gp change when I moved from Kerry to Limerick I went back to my college doctor (female and young) and I have found her so much more understanding than my gp in Kerry!! As for your age feck what anybody else thinks Im 27 and everybody thinks Im too young I met my Fiance in October and we got engaged the next May people will always find something to crib about

Hi and welcome to the site :) Best of luck with the wedding plans. We are just coming up to our first anniversary, can't believe that year has flown by so quickly. And good luck with the ttc too :) No question is a silly question so ask away and there will always be someone that can help :) We are TTC now for a year and it's not always been easy but this site has been a great help, mainly to have other people to talk to about it and that know what you are going through :)

:welcome to the site. A piece of advice my gp gave me about ttc is to relax and enjoy it, do the deed every 2nd night but try not to concentrate on getting pregnant. We had been trying in earnest for 18 months, and unfortunatley i miscarried in March 2011 but then got pregnant again in June (only 3 months later). It's when you least expect it to happen that it really does. At least that's what i have been telling my sil who has been trying for nearly a year. Stock up on your folic acid, take vitamins and generally give your lifestyle a complete overhaul. It will happen for you, but if i were you i would concentrate on the wedding, that's stressful enough. I got married abroad in September 2009 and had to organise it all myself, so i know how much of a stresser a wedding can be.
:goodluck with everything and ask away about anything that comes to mind. The girls on here are brilliant for advice and honest too.
