Best Humidifier please?

Postby michde » Thu Dec 29, 2016 10:08 pm

Hi we have our lo with a cough nearly all of the winter months, it has been said to us would we try a humidifier. Can any of you recommend your one or which did you find good? The air in our house would be very dry at times and in the summer once windows are on latches there isn't even a sniffle never mind a cough! So think this could be worth a try
Thanks in advance

Vicks have one that we use all through the winter. We got it in Argos. Hope that helps.

O that does, I'm listening to the coughing now! Do you know which Vicks one it is you have, I seen the warm mist one think it's 60e or they have another Vicks one too. Do you find it good

Yes its the warm mist one we have. Don't know exactly if it helps but she hasn't had cold and anytime she has starting of one it seems to be gone in a few days. She ended up in hospital last January when she was 14wks old with the RSV virus and was in an incubator with warm moist air being pumped in and a friend also swears by it.

O brilliant thanks might pick it up tomorrow so, do you find it leaves condensation all over room? Can you use the likes of karvol in it?

Does leave condensation so have to air room out next day. Sorry don't know about karvol etc with it. I think there was some kind of sachet thing that came with it but I threw it out because she was too young for it

Thanks for that, I don't think it has a filter, or where would I need to look for it. Id run it once or twice a wk at the min and wash it once a wk with warm sudsy water.
This is the one I got in the end

Would you believe since we got it and are using it, our lo has got over their dose and has not got another since, as before it was literally cough after cough after cough! So we're well impressed

The best humidifier
The Honeywell HCM-350 is your best bet.

By John Holecek, Tim Heffernan
This post was done in partnership with The Sweethome, a buyer's guide to the best things for your home. Read the full article here.

After a third year of testing, the Honeywell HCM-350 remains our pick as the best humidifier for most people. Like most machines we tested, it humidifies the air quietly, reliably, and efficiently. But unlike most competitors, the Honeywell is leakproof. It's also the easiest model we've ever found to fill and clean—and that's paramount, because cleaning and filling are the two things you do the most with any humidifier.
