Waters leaking?

Postby Bettie » Sat Apr 11, 2015 4:06 pm

Hi girls,
I've just been admitted to hosp at 39w+5 with possible leaking waters. I had a small gush at 5am this morn. My pyjamas were soaked so I thought "this is it". I put on a pad and went back to bed. No pains or cramps but had a warm trickle at 6.30am and changed pad. Same at 7.30 so I rang the hospital. They asked me to come in, checked with speculum and there was a slight and slow trickle. I've still no pains, feeling absolutely fine and only getting a tiny trickle now every few hours. They're monitoring me for tonight at least.
I'm wondering did anyone else have something like this, and if so how soon after did things either get going or did you waters break fully?
I have no idea whether I'll be going home tonight, or tomorrow, or if this is it now til baby comes! Uncertainty isn't fun :/

I've just remembered following you on the Jan train Lorraine, that sounds like what I have had alright but haven't had much confirmation that it's actually waters leaking. I wonder will I follow your example and start pains soon?!!!! Eeeek!!! I don't know if I'm more afraid of that or of being sent home.

Thanks Lorraine x x Haven't had any for three hours now so they're saying it be/have been "hind waters". Still here though, watching and waiting.

I had gushes on the Tuesday night bettie, was told to come in to check if it was waters but was told it wasn't but that I was having mild contractions. Went home & things just progressed from there, strong contractions by 4am on the Wednesday & back to hosp that morning & my waters broke two hours later, straight to delivery suite & had our lo that night so that was between the Tuesday & Wednesday night.

Good luck Bettie xxx

My water broke after two days of mild contracts but I was told to go straight to hospital, went in 5hours after waters broke and was only 1-2cm... But they had to keep me in as once waters are broke ur baby is open to infection, I think they automatically start you on an antibiotic after 18hours.. in the end I had to be induced after 37hours of waters being broke I had little one.

Wishing you all the best, so exciting to be so close to meeting your baby xxx

Thanks Iwish
Yes they said they'll give me antibiotics from 11pm tonight, that would be 18hours alright. Had only teeny leaks for hours but since 6pm I've had little gushes every now and then. Waiting for doc to look at me now. Still no pains though. Oh girls I'm so nervous!

Well I'm still here, still leaking. On antibiotics in case of infection and waiting to see doc about plan for possible induction as I haven't had pains yet. The waiting is keeping me terrified!

Ah that's tough going bettie waiting around like that doesn't help when you're feeling nervous. Hopefully you'll have a plan of action soon - best of luck & don't forget to update us ;-)

Hopefully you've been told the plan of action, I'd say induction is the way, don't be terrified, just think of your baby and your fear will melt away. Thinking of you xxx

Thanks girls, have had a gel (OW!!!) at 11.45 but still no pains or anything. Don't know what'll happen next as doing another gel might mean it's gone too long since my waters started to leak. I can't stand the not knowing, even with my lovely hub here with me I'm still very scared. Thanks for the encouragement ye are all lovely x x
