Thanks girls - well yep the pains are the real deal. Came in about an hour ago fully sure they'd send me home but nope in the midwives words 'you're not leaving without a baby!'
Am dilated just enough to get 1 finger into cervix but well effaced & thin cervix so I'm guessing that's what pains were doing.
They're gonna check me again in an hour to see if they can break waters. Currently pains are 2/3 mins apart
Say a prayer it's nice & quick girls

Baby boy, 8lb 3oz arrived 2.14am. Both doing well but exhausted!!! All natural labour - successful vbac! - no gas/air or anything else. Am stunned!!
Had to have small cut made to get him out but he's flying it now.
Off to sleep now xx

Oh I don't know about that - it was a very weird one. Assessed at 9.30 & was 1cm & they confirmed I was in established labour, checked again at 12.30 & only 1cm still but I had loads of pressure so they wanted an epidural in to give me a break. I really didn't want one, but she talked me round & at 1am roughly I said okay fine, but I need the loo the pressure is bad, sitting on the loo I got almighty pains & I thought there's NO WAY this is 1cm!!! Midwife heard me bearing down & was like are you pushing?! I said ' I think so I can't not push!!' So she checked me at 1.20am & sure as anything I was 10cm!!
I was STUNNED!! So if anyone is reading this & thinks it always takes hours, be prepared I did it in 40 mins just as they came up to do the epi!
So she said okay ready to go lets push!! Got baby well down in the next 20/30 mins but he was having trouble getting round the bend so they said I needed a small cut - initially I asked if I had the option of just tearing naturally but she said to me the episiotomy was defo the better option in terms of after care so I bit the bullet & said fine - baby's heart dipped then & was basically told we need him out in 2/3 contractions- girls I pushed like a mad woman, I think I pushed on terror thinking I need this baby out now!! 3 pushes later I held him in my arms & he is just beautiful x
I'm by no means superwoman I just got very lucky that things went my way when they did, it's all down to God/my son/my body for all coming together when I needed it.
Most important my son is perfect, the diabetes didn't affect him at all & he is thriving - bf for 45 mins after I wad stitched!!

Well done again. That was very quick. Sounds very similar to me except I wasn't checked before epidural and actually shouldn't have got it cos I was 10cm when I was checked straight after!! So if id known there's no way I would have taken it or they would have given it to me so it prolonged things by hr and half for me. You did brilliantly

I know hun dh said the same to me that it's lucky she checked!!
I can imagine it's a pain to know you got there & epi really wasn't needed after all!!
But look we have healthy baby's & that the only thing either of us gives a shite about lol

Exactly I'm here with her curled up on my shoulder after her bottle:-) - it still does annoy me at times that I didn't need the epidural cos id done all the hard work!!! First time and completely clueless. Will know better for next time ;-). Enjoy the newborn snuggles xx

I was the opposite funnily, last time they wanted an epi & I said no no no, then needed a section so they had to try get one in in the height of labour, things went mad & ended up with a general anaesthetic so this time round I said okay to it, thinking (honestly) I'm heading for section number 2, but in a stroke of pure luck it didn't go that way thank God. But purely out of my control as it would have been yours too, these babies dictate it all hun xx

Great birth story honeybee what a great experience. Lovely to have the experience of it all this time around after your experience the first time. Congrats and welcome to the world to your little man.

If I ever go again I'd love to experience it all without the epidural....I think :-)
