Hi everyone. My name is Sarah. I'm new. Can't believe I only just now found this website. It's brill!
Anyway, I'm due my first, a little girl, April 13th and I cannot wait. I was hoping ye could give me some advice regarding names. Ideally i would like and Irish name and I have a few in mind.

Fiadh (pronounced fee-ah) it means wild in Irish.
Feile (pronounced fayla) it means festival in Irish.
Alanah it means oh child in Irish.

Or the two non Irish names I have picked are Layla or Isabel.

What do ye think? What's your favourite?

Thanks :) :) :) xxx

I love Fiadh, if my son had been a girl that's what I'd chosen.
My eldest little girl is called Ceola - stemming from the Irish word ceol/music.
We love it & it suits her perfectly :)

We called our little one Róisín. We went with Críona for her second name. Also on the list was Eilís, Aoife, Fiadh, Ríoghnach/Ríona.

All the names are lovely.

Fiadh is a lovely name -- Feile for me would always remind me of the festival back in the day :). I really like Irish names too, my only problem would be different dialect pronunciations, would drive me mad if someone pronounced the name differently as in:
Roisin - I say Row-sheen, whereas some people say Rosh-een. I'd be going mad :D :D :D

I also like Isabel

I love Cadhla but have a niece Kaylin, so a bit too close. Seoidin is lovely, I've never heard that one before.

I named my little girl Fiadh she is four weeks old I absolutely love it and delighted I chose this, I gave spelled it too with the dh although this has caused confusion for some in pronouncing it Fia would be easier but I didn't like this. Everyone are asking where did we get name and seem to love it.

I am going to pick an Irish name but so many can sound quite poncy!

I have a name in mind but it's more of a word in Irish than a person's name but it's beautiful, it's short & simple but it's rare! I feel like I can't even write it here incase I give myself away!

Fear of people thinking why couldn't they just choose a name we've heard of, is making me think maybe I should not choose the name.
