Eight months into this journey:)

Postby Kerrygal » Wed Dec 01, 2010 10:31 pm

Hiya Ladies. Im new to this but after reading the stories Im glad I joined! Just a little bit about my journey to date. Myself and the hubbie to be decided last May to start trying for a baby. We both felt it was the right time for us. Im 26 himself is 35. I came off the pill had been on it about 8 years. My cycles have returned to normal straight away thankfully. So far weve been unsuccessful a couple of times I felt there was a very high chance we were expecting until the monthly arrived. I have epilepsy diagnosed a little over 5 years ago and spent a year on Epilim (anti-epileptic) drug which can make ttc difficult. Just hoping it happens sooner rather than later as every month is getting harder. We are into a new month so fingers and toes crossed. Good luck and :babydust to all those trying!!!!!!

:welcome to the site hun, sorry to hear you have been trying for 8months with no BFP. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you :goodluck and sending you loads and loads of :babydust .. its hard this TTC business everyone thinks they will get pregnant the first month they try... If you are still worried in the new year go to the doc for some tests just tell them you've been trying for over a year otherwise some doctors won't entertain you, terrible isn't it (got this advice from friends of mine who were having a hard time TTC and had to go to doc) hope you get your :positive soon...

Thanks Ladies,
Thanks for the welcome :D It is very frustrating I honestly expected to be expecting by now until I realised its not that easy! Myself and the hubbie to be have had a fair bit of stress in our lives complicated family stuff moving houses but Im hoping now that thats resolved Im hoping well get the postive result we so much want. I definatley will go get checked Ive a checkup with my neurologist in February but Id even go to my gp before that. Its ridicilous that they wouldnt consider seeing somebody cause your young or before a year after starting ttc! I need to know theres nothing wrong its a basic right or so youd think!!

I hate that moment when :witch arrives up until that moment I still have hope. I always get sore boobs and queasiness so much for pregnancy symptoms!!! I hate the look on my other halfs face when I tell him weve been unsuccessful. Hes amazing he stays strong for me I hate what its doing to him. Well have to stop at some stage as were getting married in September 2012 and neither of us want to walk up the aisle with a bump. Im due :witch in or around the 22nd of December so have another bit to go. It frustrates the hell outta me I see women/young girls who treat their child like crap yet theres women out there ttc and finding it difficult. It doesnt seem fair.

Kerrygal, I'm just curious. Do you use opks? Have you tried smep? I was ttc and my friend told me basically it was a stab in the dark unless I used opk. She said it's about luck and maths. The first month I used the opks we conceived. I didn't use smep but it does make sense. I was on a cough bottle because of the flu. I'm not trying to be inconsiderate saying we conceived first time using opks......just wanted to let you know. We were always :doingthedeed day 12/13/14/15/16 etc etc. It turns out we conceived on day 10/11 of my cycle. I never would have thought that I ovulated that early....I don't get ovulation pain or anything.
So stick with it girl, get opk if you don't already use them, speak to your gp and neurologist about your medications and lie to your gp about how long you are trying to conceive. Another thing that might be worthwhile is assessing your other half's health and sperm quality. We always assume it's a problem with the women. Sometimes if lads lay off booze/fags, eat plenty of veg/fruit, lose some weight and stay out of the sauna at the gym, it can help. There are also supplements men can take for aiding fertility. Good luck, I'm keeping everything crossed for you. :babydust :babydust :babydust

Hi MrsD,
I tried OPK's one month but havent tried them since. Im def going to use them again from now on. I remember reading somewhere the chances of conceiving each month are about 20-25 percent. That actually scares me!! Pardon my ignorance but what is smep?? Im def going to get checked out I have never wanted anything more and its frutrating when its not happening-I get people saying itll happen and that it could take 18 months If thats the case Ill have cracked up!! Myself and my other half thankfully are non smokers- I dont drink. My other half does though weve had heated dicussions about his drinking- he doesnt drink every night maybe 1 or 2 days in the week but not every week-when he does drink he does go ott. He doesnt seem to realise this could be damaging our ttc. Is there any supplements youd recommend? Were taking the Santogen Mom and Dad to be.

Thanks for the encouragement :)

smep is sperm meets egg plan. You can google it. It's just good tips for ttc but prob worth a shot. I didn't have my husband on any supplements. He wouldn't even stay out of the sauna for me. He admitted this when we found out we conceived. :( But definitely get the opks again. You can get cheap ones on inhealth.ie. They are the ones I used. Good luck, keep your chin up and :babydust to you. I hope you get :positive really soon.

I googled SMEP last night Im definatley going to give it a try it makes a lotta sense. Guys I think going on my guy anyhow dont realise how much affects ttc. I feel like Im hitting a blank wall with himself. Myself and the h2b are very different in that way Im not into pubs/clubs he is. As you can imagine this has ended up in enough of arguments!! Thanks a million for the advice were at the ovulation stage in next few days (from my estimations and how I feel) so fingers crossed :)
