TTC#2 with some help

Postby googoogaga » Thu Oct 25, 2018 8:08 am

Hi all, seeing as the longer term TTC #1 thread took off I thought it might be a good idea to set up another train for anyone who is going for a second or third and may need some help / support.
A little bit about me...so we started trying for no.1 back in early 2014. Aside from A few minor issues (all corrected -thyroid, mild endo) me and DH seemed perfectly healthy - just the small issue of getting pregnant! So we ended up down the IVF route and our little miracle girl was born 18 months ago from our very first attempt. We are absolutely blessed. We also had a grade 1 embryo in the freezer (god that sounds so clinical!) So everything went perfectly.
Anyway, we had been trying naturally for about a year and decided to do a FET cycle this month which unfortunately didnt work. Pretty much started bleeding 2 days post transfer so never really stood a chance.
Anyway onwards and upwards! Would love some company again on this rollercoaster!

Hi I would like to join this if that’s ok...

I was recently diagnosed with pcos and have been referred to a fertility clinic I’m on metformin while I’m waiting on my app I have a little girl already which the doc said she was amazed I was able to conceive naturally so she is my little miracle I was trying for her for 7 years so I suspect I had pcos all along as I have always had irregular periods my whole life...

Welcome Olivia. 7 years?? Fair play to you. I don't know how you weren't a basket case after that.
Well it's good that you have finally been diagnosed and can get treated properly. Hopefully your wont be waiting too long for your second

Ah I was more then a basket case in the end I eventually gave up and then it just happened but this time round I definitely need the extra help as one ovary is very bad it’s double it’s size and both have cysts so I’m hoping with the right help it won’t be to long and hopefully it won’t be to long for anyone else aswell on this journey

Hi googoo, what a lovely idea for a thread, it seems to be just as common for people to struggle with the 2nd or 3rd. There are a few girls on the longer term ttc thread that already have kids so you’re more than welcome to join us over there too, don’t let the title put u off xxx

Hi girls. My little boy is 10 months now and we are contemplating trying for no 2. It took 2.5 years and 3 failed cycles of Ivf to get him so we are prepared for a long haul. Lovely to see familiar names with successful outcomes. X

Hi ladies
Didn't think I'd be back on these threads. Was successful on 2nd ivf in 2016 & have lovely toddler running rings around us.

Just on 2 week wait currently after long protocol fresh cycle. I certainly haven't don't the acupuncture, ate pineapple or listened to visualisation CD this time around as it's all go with work & a little one. I'm 7dp3dt & have to say i feel nothing. On my successful one I had a really bad night with pain in legs & side but nothing this time so I'm feeling like it's not to be. Test day is Wednesday with a hpt....cou ting the days
Hoping this will be a short sit for us all on this thread. Great to see familiar names back but know ye are prob like me wishing we didn't have to go this route again

Hey 161, welcome back to the rollercoaster. How was it doing a fresh cycle with a little one??
I did a FET last time and that was hard enough with a little nutter.
I was trying to be good post transfer not lifting her etc and that was very tough for me (and her).
But I don't think there is any way around that.

Hi Goo goo, I didn't find it too bad but i always felt he knew tgere something going on (my mother thinks I'm crazy!!) As he seemed to want Daddy more. In the initial days post transfer I tried not to lift him but there are times when you just have to. This past few days I felt like it hadn't worked so I lifted away as normal although I skipped baths and cot lifts.
Seeing him zooming around though makes the wait easier as I know the miracle that he is.
We didn't get any frosties from this cycle although clinic never confirmed this, I just guessed by the breakdown of final invoice.. have to say that I found clinic not as good for communicating after egg retrieval but I suppose they have been taken over since I last used them..
Tomorrow is official test day..ive to do hpt and let them know result & if negative I will get appointment for blood test..
I've fingers & toes crossed, and 1 minute feel positive then feel period like cramps so think I'm out..tomorrow will tell if I don't cave in tonight...

Hi ladies, finally found a few minutes to post here. I’m going to join you on this thread :) bit about me, I have a 2 yo who was conceived on a medicated cycle after 2 years of trying. I was taking femara and progesterone and it was a cancelled iui cycle the cycle I conceived. Am now trying for number 2 for about a year but I’ve been way more relaxed this time around. Haven’t been very good at using ov sticks or taking folic acid but am gonna get serious with the folic acid from today.
I saw my fertility doc today, first time since I had my kid and she thinks that I might just need a bit of help again this time. Will get bloods done in coming days and then see her again before Xmas to make a plan. Before I left she mentioned that age (am 36) is not on my side and she could see a decline in the number of follicles growing this cycle compared to when I was with her in 2016. Hmmm thanks for that positive note when I was just about to walk out the door...
161baby how are you? I really hope you’ve got your positive test and your time on this thread is over before it really began.
Goo goo what’s your plan now?
Btw I got a bit superstitious after I conceived last time and even though I really wanted to check in on the long term ttc#1 I couldn’t bring myself to open it and still can’t

Hi Poppy

I got my bfp & we are over the moon..but with the clinic this time they took beta bloods on a Friday & rang saying they very low but have a nice weekend..repeat bloods on the Monday and waited for the call and they said all is good they are increasing.
As we had holiday already booked they asked me to come in for scan last week and tbh I came away thinking I'm going to miscarry. They didn't explain very much to me other than he couldn't see much in gestational sac..there was a 2nd sac but he didn't refer to it so I assumed that both embryos implanted and 1 stopped growing.
I was told go on holidays & sure come back for a scan when you get home. Honestly I don't know what to think.
I look 6 months pregnant & I have sore boobs but that's it. No other symptoms. I didn't have morning sickness last time just nausea from week 11.
I'm trying to be positive but then I give in to Google & drive myself insane.
If I go by online calculators tgey say I'm 6wks + but if I go by actual transfer daye it's only 5 weeks since yday.
I'm going on hols eith the motto pregnant until proven otherwise and please god this little 1 has stuck.
I wish you every success poppy, it's great to put the plan I place & who knows you might get a Christmas surprise;)

Poppy am in the same boat. 36 also.
Oh 161 I am so sorry. That is just very frustrating but you are dead right. Pregnant until proven otherwise. I remember my consultant telling me how resilient little embryos are if they are healthy! Have all my fingers and toes crossed for you hon. Let us know how you get on xxx

Hi ladies, how are you all getting on? 161, how are you? You’ve popped into my mind every so often over the last few weeks. Hope all is well.
I’m back with my specialist tomorrow for my blood results and on cd10 today. Don’t know if it’s because of Christmas but have got the strong longing for another baby in the past couple of weeks. Before that I was more in the if it happens, it happens camp but can see myself getting a bit obsessed about it now. There’s also been a lot of pregnancy announcements and births for friends that had their first the same time as me. Doesn’t help.
Love this time of the year though and going to enjoy Christmas with my little one :)
